Thomas Boyle Obituary

 

Thomas A. Boyle Sr. longtime resident of Pearl River, NY, passed away on November 28, 2020 at Montefiore Nyack Hospital in Nyack NY. He was 72 years old.

                Mr. Boyle was born on April 6, 1948 in Donegal, Ireland to James Boyle and Sarah Melly Boyle. He came to the United States on July 1, 1957.  He was raised and educated in the Bronx, NY and graduated from St. Helena’s High School.

Mr. Boyle began work with Liberty Lines Transportation as a bus driver and eventually became the Director of Safety and Training at Liberty Lines Transportation in Yonkers, NY.  He was with the company for 37 years before retiring in 2013.

 On August 25, 1973 he married Kathleen Duffy Boyle at St. John’s Church on Kingsbridge Ave, Bronx, NY.

Mr. Boyle lived in Pearl River for the past 37 years. Before that he lived in Yonkers, NY from 1976 through 1983, and in the Bronx, NY from 1957 through 1976. 

He was a man that was loved by all that were fortunate enough to have met him. Always quick with a smile or a helping hand for all. He was of all things a man of character and strength. He was a proud member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, with which he worked the reviewing stand at the New York City St. Patrick’s Day parade every year.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen, and his three devoted children, his son Thomas Jr. and daughter-in-law Deborah, son Kevin and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and son James and daughter in-law Dana. He will be greatly missed as Pop-Pop to his seven adoring grandchildren, Caitlin, Kylie, Emily, Declan, Jack, Kamryn and Logan.

Mr. Boyle will be fondly remembered by his cousins James Boyle of New City, Eamon, Sean and Mary Melly of Westchester, NY, Sean and James Boyle of New Jersey, Matthew Melly, Ennis McCready and Ann Patton of Ireland, Brian, the O’Rourkes of Pearl River, Pat Boyle and family of Long Island,  the Boyles of Ireland,  as well as the Nugents of Yonkers, NY, the Mulligan, Janis and Narducci families of New Jersey, and all the Duffy’s in Rooskey, Mayo.

He is pre-deceased by his mother Sarah Boyle and father James Boyle.

Calling hours are Thursday December 3, 2020 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, NY 10965

A Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, December 4, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458.

Interment will follow at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY 10952.
