Roseann Healy, a long-time resident of Nanuet, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2020, with her family by her side. She was 84.
Born on April 13, 1935 in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of Elizabeth (nee Love) and John Edward Reilly, Roseann graduated from Ascension School in 1949 and High School of the Blessed Sacrament in 1953. While in high school, she was on the high honor roll and during her junior year, she was deemed “Personality Plus” in which she was noted for her beautiful blue eyes. She was proud to be a native New Yorker and told endless stories of fun times growing up with her siblings. She also cherished her lifelong friendships with best friends Eileen Conrad and Anna Devaney.
Roseann later worked for various businesses but was most proud of her appointment to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Department of Justice, as a secretary during the time of Director J. Edgar Hoover.
She married Patrick J. Healy (Captain NYPD) on January 21, 1961 and together they had six children. Throughout, she was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. Roseann’s warm and loving ways made for a happy home and a welcome place for her children’s friends, her front lawn quickly became “the hub” of Prospect Street. Mom’s quick-witted sense of humor made her house a place of laughter. This was still evident in her later years as a grandmother when going to “Nanny-down-the-block’s” was the place to be for fun. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching her favorite television shows, spending time with neighbors, going to family events, and cooking and baking for her large family. Somehow, she even made time to sew, even making her eldest daughter’s dress for her kindergarten picture.
Roseann is survived by her son Patrick J. Jr. (Donna), daughters Elisa, Roseann, Jean Feltham, Kathleen Sulla (Michael) and Laura. She was the cherished grandmother of Patrick III, Brianne, and Katie Healy; Mikey, Anthony, and Krista Sulla; J.P. and Kyle Feltham; a brother James (Jim) Reilly; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Patrick Joseph Healy, son-in-law Thomas Feltham and brothers John (Buster) Reilly and Charles (Chuck) Reilly and sisters Mary (Molly) Kunz and Teresa (TZ) Neary.
Mom will be forever loved and cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America would be appreciated.
