Philip Traynor Obituary

Rockland County resident Mr Philip Traynor died suddenly at his Residence on Saturday July 10th, 2021. He is survived by Anne and  their four children Courtney, Ryan, Grainne and Ciara, his Brother Martin (Ireland) his sister Mary (Ireland) and his nephew David Kirk .Philip parents Eugene(rip) & Kathleen(rip) along with Philips brother Patrick(rip) are predeceased.

Philip was born in 46 Street MaCartans Villas, Carrickmacross, County Monaghan Ireland and attended St Joseph’s National School and St Michaels secondary School where he received a foundation in education in technical skills which would prove invaluable later in business.

He played Gaelic Football with his local club and Parish Carrick Emmett’s and it was here that’s the seeds of his love of the GAA were sown and his pride of his culture were endowed.

In his early years he drove tractor trailer rigs all over Europe before he made the decision to move to the United States of America in 1984 and he was welcomed by his brother (rip) Patrick.Wonderous years were to follow with his favorite place on Sunday being The famed “Gaelic Park” in the Bronx which was the melting pot of the Immigrant Irish. He involved himself with his Native County Monaghan Football club and sponsored his adopted Longford Football Club, who adorned Philips newly owned “Allboro Floors’ Jerseys.

He immediately became a member of the Monaghan County Society and became President in 1996, where he showed his true benevolencey helping find Irish Immigrants work and accommodation. Philip has been honored by so many organizations for his charitable characteristics and without valor or recognition spent twenty years , every Monday afternoon , making sandwiches , wrapping them and taking them down the homeless on the streets of  New York City .

Philip was a member , donor and supporter of The Aisling Irish Community Center since it was founded in 1996 and was active in donating his time to the active volunteers feeding the homeless and also was a major sponsor of Team Aisling Running Club New York.

Philips Company flourished and his skills and likable character were a very natural combination for success and the company grew to one of the biggest residential and commercial hardwood flooring companies in New York.

When Philip moved to Rockland County in the nineties, he completely immersed himself into Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association with his young children and with the purchase of the Rockland Gaa Grounds, he became the key advocate and development co chairman of what became one of the greatest and biggest GAA Centers of Excellence outside of Ireland. His contributions and his endless advocacy with his relationships in the GAA corridors in Croke Park were quintessential to the success of The Rockland Gaa program. When the center was opened in 2018 –a lot of it was because of Mr Philip Traynor.

To cumulate Philips love of the GAA , his prouder moment came only one week before his very untimely passing , when Philip and his son Ryan attended his native county Monaghans Championship game versus Fermanagh in Ireland where he presented The County Team with their new “ All Boro Flooring “ official sponsorship Jersey . This chapter of benevolence was written in Philip Traynors life and the humble immigrant had come home, to fulfill a lifelong dream.

But Philip Traynors proudest legacy comes with his four Children. He cheered them on all his life instilling manners, Humility ,sportsmanship and character and he was at his best along the side lines of any Gaelic football pitch from Ireland to New York and we can hear his voice ringing in our Ears “Ryan “…Courtney” ..”Grainne” … “Kiki”.

His voice …………..will never be dulled in his childerns ears.

Go N-eirigh an Bothar leat Philip and May God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Slan.
