Peter M. Reynolds, a resident of Pearl River, NY for over 50 years, passed away November 21, 2020.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Hartford, CT to Peter and Nora Reynolds on December 8, 1928. Following graduation from Power Memorial High School, he served in the Unites States Marine Corps from 1945-1947 being stationed at the Marine Corps Air Station in Ewa, Hawaii. After his honorable discharge, Peter obtained a Commercial Pilot’s License and an Associates Degree from City College of New York. In December 1955 he joined the New York City Police Department and retired in 1979. He began his second career in March of 1979 as a Safety Engineer with the Schiavone Construction Company in Secaucus, NJ. He retired December 31, 2008. From 1958 to 1978, as a Major in the Civil Air Patrol unit based at, the CAPROC field in Orangetown, NY, he flew search and rescue missions for missing civil aircraft in the NY, NJ, PA area. From 1979 to 2002 he was a member of the New York State National Guard from which he retired as a Lt. Colonel.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Pearl River, NY, his daughter, Christine of Concord, MA, his son, Terrence and his wife, Dana of Blauvelt, NY and grandchildren, Maddison, Gary and Michelle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday November 24, 2020 at St. Catharine R.C. Church Blauvelt, NY. Burial will follow at Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.
