Michael J Higgins

Michael Higgins of Pearl River, NY died on Thursday July 28th in his home.  He was 64 years old.  Michael worked as a firefighter for the city of New York from 1982-2011.  He worked in the south Bronx at ladder 42 and then moved onto work at ladder 19.  Michael retired as a lieutenant.
Michael Higgins was born in Deer Park Long Island on October 16th 1957 to Jack and Anna (McGinty) Higgins.   Michael was the fourth of five children and is survived by his parents and siblings Anne Marie (Ferry), John (Higgins), Eileen (Hands) and Keith (Higgins).
He was born and raised on Long Island, where he attended Seton Hall HS  for three years and completed his senior year at Deer Park HS, graduating in 1975. He went on to attend Manhattan college in 1980 where he earned his bachelor's degree studying American history.  
On May 10th, 1986 he married Linda (Broggini) Higgins. They share two children, Chris and Kerry.
Michael lived in Pearl River for the past 30 years, before he settled in Pearl River he lived in the Bronx from 1986-1989.  
Locally he was a member of the AOH, had his own roofing company and was known to lend a helping hand or listening ear whenever he could.
Michael will be remembered for his selfless nature, big heart, sweet soul and love of laughter.  He will be remembered as a dear friend, uncle, son, brother and cherished father.   
The funeral will be held on Wednesday August 3rd at 10am at St. Aedan's church, calling hours are on Tuesday 8/2 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
