Mary Steinberger Obituary

Mary Phoebe Steinberger of Pearl River, NY was reunited with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on September 16, 2022.
Mary was born on August 14, 1951 in Bronx, NY to Harold J Steinberger and Estelle (Philbin) Steinberger.
Ms Steinberger was educated in Pearl River, NY and graduated Pearl River High School in 1969. While studying in college, Mary worked initially as a cottage counselor then later as security for St Agatha’s Home in Nanuet, NY. After graduating Rockland Community College in 1971 with an Associates Degree in Sociology/Psychology, she went on to work in New York City for Volt Industries.
Mary was a dedicated employee. After many years of service to Volt,  she went on to work as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the Ramapo Police Department. She retired after serving the department for 20 years in 2017.
Mary will be remembered most for her generosity- she always made it a point to show those she loved how much they meant to her by showering them with affection, road trips to theme parks, treats or gifts. Ever the sports lover, (Aunt) Mary would attend every game or competition she could to support her beloved nieces and nephews in their athletic endeavors. She would always show up with goodies of some sort to celebrate with. She continued this tradition with her many grand nieces and nephews who in turn cherished these moments. She also enjoyed taking her nieces and nephews to Disney world and to see Disney movies. It brought her great joy to see the innocence of children and the awe in their eyes during these times and moments.
Mary had a very big heart- she financially supported various charities in her lifetime including SmileTrain, St Jude’s and ASPCA. She was also a firm believer in Jesus Christ and donated to Catholic led organizations and her local church of St Margaret’s of Antioch.
Mary is predeceased by her parents (Harold 1992 & Estelle 1974), her sisters Stella Pelisson (2018) and Theresa Boyce (2018) and her oldest brother Robert “Bob” Steinberger (2019) and her cherished fur babies, Pepper and Scout. Over the last few years of her life, as she struggled through illness and limitations related to her heart failure but clung to her faith, Mary often spoke of how amazing her reunion with her family members will be.
Mary is survived by her sister Dlorah Walkley (Robert) of Pearl River, NY and brother Harold Steinberger (Linda) of Washingtonville, NY, her loving sister and brother in laws: Mary (Too) Steinberger, Charles “Max” Pelisson and Gary Boyce; her best friend Annette Sousa (John) of Congers, NY in addition to her nieces and nephews:
