Margaret Frey, (Peggy) of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on November 30, 2021.
She was 93 years old.
Peggy was born on August 22, 1928 in the Bronx, the daughter of Catherine (McGowan) and George Thompson, Lt., FDNY. She was a student of St. Nicholas of Tolentine and St. Vincent Ferrer High School. She married Robert Frey in September 1951 at Holy Spirit Church and became a devoted mother to her three children while residing in the Bronx. She also returned to the workforce. In addition, presented 25 years of service to the Bell System, retiring in 1985 from AT&T as District Secretary.
She later resided in Pearl River and Hamptons Bays. She was a member of St. Aedan Church and St. Rosalie Church in Hampton Bays. She was a charity action volunteer for the Dominican Sisters of Long Island for many years working in their Thrift Shop and helping to raise funds for the local residents.
Peggy will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity. She had many friends and led a life of grace and dignity. She was cherished and admired by everyone that knew her. She resided in St. Patrick’s Nursing Home for the last 3 years among the charity and care of the Carmelite Sisters, Aides and residents that loved and respected her. She touched the lives of many people young and old.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert and sons, Robert Emmet & John C. Frey as well as brothers, George and William Thompson.
She is survived by her children, Gerard Frey (Regina) and Mary Frey Fusco (Brian, deceased);
grandchildren, John Gannon ( Amanda), Tim Fusco (Meagan), Christina Urevich ( Paul)
Jacqueline Frey (Kevin), Michael Frey ( Kelsey) and Kathleen Frey.
Peggy also is survived by 3 great grandchildren Johnny, Mackenzie and Madelyn and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM Monday at St. Aedan RC Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY. Visiting will be Sunday from 2-5PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
