Kelly Ann (Payea) Mazzarella

Kelly Ann Mazzarella, a registered nurse and a long-time resident of Pearl River, NY, passed away on May 8, 2020 due to complications from Covid-19.  Kelly was 43 years old.  

Kelly was born in Queens, NY on September 10, 1976 to Timothy and Maryann Payea.  A 1994 Pearl River High School graduate, she went on to get her degree in Nursing from Rockland Community College in 2001.  She worked as a clinical nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY for 16 years.  In October of 2017, she transitioned her expertise to The Beale Wound Treatment and Hyperbaric Center at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital as a Nurse Manager.  

Kelly married Ronald on September 27, 2003.  They later welcomed two beautiful daughters, Hailey Rose and Kristina Marie, on October 16, 2009 and November 15, 2010, respectively.  Her daughters were her entire world, and Kelly’s family was the most important part of her life.  

Kelly was a bright light in so many peoples’ lives.  Her generosity, kindness, and love were given freely without wanting or expecting anything in return.  She had an uncanny ability to see the best in people, even when they felt they were at their worst.  Her home was open to all whom she cared about as a gathering place in good times and bad.  Kelly was more than a friend; she was a confidant, a cheerleader, and a shoulder to cry on if you needed it.  The amount of people impacted by Kelly’s love is immeasurable. 

She is survived by her parents; her husband; her children; her grandmother, Goldie Payea; her sister Karen Jedlicka, her husband James, and their children Emma and Lucas; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She is predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Robert Payea, and her maternal grandparents, Paul and Agnes Ivelja. 

Due to the social distancing restrictions, the family is forgoing a funeral service at this time.  A memorial will be scheduled at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kelly’s name can be made to the Lupus Research Alliance https://give.lupusresearch.org/give/123231/#!/donation/checkout
