Jeremiah McAuliffe, of Blauvelt, NY and former longtime resident of Pearl River, NY, returned to his heavenly home on May 21, 2022 at the age of 86. A native of Cork City, Ireland, Jeremiah was born to Garrett and Frances McAuliffe on February 4, 1936. Jeremiah emigrated to the United States 2 days prior to his 21st birthday He came to the US to serve our country in the US Navy from 1959-1963. He is a retired stationary engineer for NYC Health and Hospital Corp. and Director of Facilities for St. Dominic’s Home.
On July 21, 1962, he married his first true love Della Mullen and together they had two children. Della sadly lost her fight to breast cancer and passed away in 2005.
Jeremiah was born to serve others, and served with grace, always putting others before himself. He found true joy in the simple things in life and lived a life filled with passion. Nothing was handed to Jeremiah, and he worked around the clock to create a life for him and his family in the US that he was proud of. He could fix or build just about anything, and if he couldn’t, he would learn. He was a devoted Roman Catholic and his faith was the building stone of the man he was. Jeremiah never missed a day of Mass, one of his grandkids events, a round of golf, or a chance to tell an old joke. He was witty, charismatic and never missed a beat - even in his final days. He loved a cold beer, a swim in the pool or ocean on a hot day, walking his granddog Finn, and cheering on the New York Rangers and Yankees.
Jeremiah is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth (Goetz) McAuliffe and his loving children, Jerry (Brenda) McAuliffe of Boston, MA and Kathleen (Gerard) Geisinger of Pearl River, NY. He is the cherished Poppy to his 3 grandchildren whom he adored: Danny, Sean and Erin McAuliffe. He is also survived by Betty’s three daughters that he was a father figure to: Theresa (Sonny) Haight, Catherine (Alan) Mack, and Eileen (Pat) Conway and their three children, Kaitlyn D’Anna, Brenden, and Erin. His siblings: Bridget (Breda) Hogan, Thomas McAuliffe, Frances Dennehy and Liam McAuliffe and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his first wife Della (Mullen) McAuliffe, and his siblings, Mary Yankou, Denis, and Gerald McAuliffe.
