Helen T. Murray of Pearl River, NY, formerly of New City, NY, died Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Helen was born October 6, 1932 in the Bronx, NY to Martin and Margaret O’Hara, Irish immigrants. Growing up during the Great Depression, Helen learned the value of hard work and thriftiness. Her Irish heritage and Catholic religion were at the core of who she was for her entire life. Helen met her future husband, Marty, in high school where they became sweethearts. They married in 1955 and were together until his death in 2017, spending most of their married life in New City, NY.
While Marty was pursuing his career and “bringing home the bacon”, Helen was at home raising four children. She always made sure the children were active and supported with what they needed.
Helen loved being a parent and grandmother. She and Marty rarely missed an activity of their children and grandchildren.
Helen was a person who valued relationships. If you were her friend, you were her friend for life! She had a long list of close friends that she kept in touch with and cherished those relationships. Helen loved being active whether it was tennis, golf, playing cards, travelling, getting together with friends, going to a Broadway play or having a party. She loved being with people. She was a devout Catholic whose faith was a guiding light for all of her life.
Helen is survived by her four children and their spouses: Rich (Melissa) Murray, Keith (Ann) Murray, Jeanie (Tom) Landau, and Kristine (Jamie) DeRubertis and nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Marty and granddaughter Claire.
