Gladys Loy

Former longtime Pearl River resident, Gladys Loy passed away at the Joseph Raso Hospice Residence in New City, NY after a long battle with the coronavirus.
Gladys Beatrice Falkner was born, one of thirteen children, in upstate NY to Eugene and Evangeline Falkner. After losing her parents at a young age, she was adopted by Victor and Lillian Manoly of Congers, NY. After graduating from Clarkstown High School, she attended nursing school, and met and married the love of her life, Leon Loy. They settled in Pearl River in 1965.
Gladys was an Operating Room Technician at Nyack Hospital for over 30 years. After retiring, she loved to spend time at her “country house” in Sidney Center, NY and her residence in Baldwinsville, NY. She returned to Rockland County in 2018. She was a resident of Dowling Gardens in Sparkill, NY at the time of her illness.
Gladys was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leon, in November 2016. They had been married fifty-one years. She is survived by her son, Joseph and wife, Rebecca of Cicero NY; son, Edward and wife, Tara of Pearl River, NY; grandson, Ian, and granddaughters, Fiona, Maeve and Kiera. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Manoly of Bensalem, PA, along with many nieces and nephews.
She will always be remembered for her unique views on life, her generosity and love of family.
A celebration of her life will be planned for a later date.
