Georgina Garcia Obituary

Georgina Garcia (née Casado) of Orangeburg, NY died suddenly on December 18, 2021. She was 75 years old.
Georgina was born on September 13, 1946 in New York, NY to Orlando and Gladys Casado (née Miro).
She was a graduate of City College, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in History/Education and her Master’s Degree in Education. Georgina worked alongside her twin sister, Gladys, at IS 143 in Manhattan for 35 years. She served as both a teacher and a dean until her retirement in 2002.
Georgina married Ruperto Garcia in 1978 and moved to Ossining, NY. Both were very active at Church of St. Ann, where they served as Eucharistic Ministers, participated with the RCIA, and mentored many newly-arrived immigrants.
Georgina was a loving daughter, sister, and wife, and a doting aunt to her three nieces, Rebecca, Laura, and Jennifer.
Georgina moved into Brightview Senior Living after her husband's death in 2019, where she resided with her sister, Gladys, and her beloved dog, Max.
Georgina is survived by her sisters, Gladys Diaz and Frances Jackson, nieces, grandnieces, and grandnephew.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday June 18th at 2pm, at St. Catharine's in Blauvelt for Georgina's and her husband Ruperto.  

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in Georgina's memory to Catholic Charities of NY or the Hi Tor Animal Care Center.
