Francis E. McNerney of Pearl River, NY passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the age of 83. He was the loving and devoted husband of Kathryn (Moroney) for 55 years and proud father of son Patrick and daughter Linda. He was born in Manhattan (Hell’s Kitchen) November 20, 1937 to Patrick and Helen (McHugh) McNerney.
He attended St. Paul’s Grammar School where he sang in the choir and Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. He is a United States Army Veteran. After his discharge from the Army he joined the New York City Police Department spending most of his time in the 114th Precinct and the Task Force at Shea Stadium retiring after 20 years as a Sergeant.
After retiring he worked for Chestnut Ridge Bus Co. driving a school van and then for Insurance Services Office (ISO) until they relocated to Jersey City. His biggest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Brennan and Riley Schrammel. He loved to go and watch Brennan playing baseball. He enjoyed taking cruises up the New England Coast and going to the park in New Jersey and walking around the lake. He was a devout Catholic attending Mass daily.
Visitation will be at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Pearl River, NY on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be offered at the Church of St. Aedan on Tuesday 10 a.m. followed by burial at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
