Eleanor Ann Maher (nee Mahoney) of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 83 on Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
Eleanor was born on January 3,1938 to Patrick and Mary Mahoney (nee McGrath) and spent her early years in Washington Heights, Manhattan, New York along with her 3 sisters. The family then moved to Riverdale, Bronx, New York. She was a graduate of Incarnation School and Aquanis High School. She found a love for education while studying at Fordham University where she earned her degrees in Mathematics and Elementary Education. Eleanor was a beloved teacher of many in the Archdiocese of New York at Incarnation School and St. Gabriels. She had a love for travel and the beach. Eleanor moved to Pearl River to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren in 2014. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her two grandsons, she will always be remembered for her giving spirit, and love of helping others.
She is survived by her daughter Jennifer Iannazzo (John), her grandsons William (Billy) Iannazzo and Joseph Iannazzo, her sister Carol Curtin, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Patrick Maher, sisters Alice Miller and Jean Kelly.
Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, July 17, 2021, 10:00 am, at St. Margaret’s R.C. Church Pearl River. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Visiting is Thursday July 15, 2021 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
