Eileen Sweeney Emsworth

Eileen Sweeney Emsworth of Pearl River, loving wife, sister, mother, aunt, and godmother, died Tuesday, January 31. She was 63 years old.

Eileen worked as an Executive Secretary for Karastan International in Manhattan for many years, leaving that career to begin her next one as a homemaker and mother.

Eileen was born February 9, 1959 in Brooklyn, New York, to James and Ann (Heaphy) Sweeney. 

Eileen was Educated at St. Thomas the Apostle in Woodhaven, New York, and Stella Maris Academy in Rockaway Beach, New York, graduating in 1977. 

On September 17, 1983, she married Kevin Emsworth, Sr., at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Church in Forest Hills, New York. 

Eileen lived in Pearl River for the past 30 years. Prior to that, she lived in Woodhaven, New York, and Astoria, New York.

Locally, Eileen was an active, degree-holding member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 3 in Pearl River, serving as the head of Missions and Charities, and having been honored as an aide to the Grand Marshall of the Pearl River St. Patrick’s Day Parade in 2019.

Eileen will be remembered for her many artistic talents which she readily shared with all who asked, her giving personality, warm, welcoming presence, and infectious laughter. 

Eileen is survived by her husband, Kevin Emsworth, her daughter Bridget Renne (Eugene), her son James Emsworth (Dana), her son Kevin, Jr., her Mother Ann (Heaphy) Sweeney, brother James Sweeney, sister Patricia Murchie, sister Donna Dillon, and countless other family and friends. 

Eileen was predeceased by her father, James F. Sweeney (2006), and grandmother, Molly Fleming (2004).

She will be dearly missed.

The funeral is Monday at 10am at St. Aedan’s Church, 23 Reld Drive, Pearl River, NY, 10965
