Daniel J O'Brien

Daniel J. O’Brien of Valley Cottage passed away November 12, 2021 after a brief illness.  He was 75.

Dan was born in the Bronx to John O’Brien and Jane (Hubert) O’Brien.  After high school he worked in the plumber’s union in New York City.  He later moved to Rockland County and worked for Lederle Labs in Pearl River.  He retired from Pfizer in 2013.  Dan enjoyed fishing locally as well as taking an annual trip to Lake George with his good friends Bruce, Vinnie and Gary.  Dan and Lynda spent 20 happy and fun years together.  They were frequent cruisers, visiting Alaska twice, Mexico, Bermuda and many of the Caribbean Islands with family and friends.

Dan was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by wife Lynda Haubner, his step-children Kathleen Haubner, Victor Haubner IV and Kimberly Buchanan and her wife Dawn Lapshan, his step-grandsons Victor V, Nicholas and Jake Haubner.  He is also survived by his son Daniel J. O’Brien, Jr. and his wife Roxie and his grandchildren Devon and Emma O’Brien. 

At Dan’s request a farewell party/celebration of life will be held at his favorite watering hole, The Saloon in Pearl River, on Monday November 22, 2021 from 4-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
