Anthony J. D’Anna, Jr. of Stony Point, a longtime resident and business owner in Rockland County, died on July 5, 2020, surrounded by family at home. He was 62.
He was born March 14, 1958 in Pearl River, NY to Anthony and Rose Tomasini D’Anna.
He was raised in Pearl River, graduating from Pearl River High School and completing technical training at Rockland BOCES in 1976. He earned his Associate Degree at Rockland Community College.
Anthony built and owned a thriving plumbing business, serving hundreds of people for more than 30 years. He renovated and managed rental properties throughout North Rockland, with loyal tenants who remained for decades.
He will be remembered as a beloved provider for both the community and his family, recognized for his kindness, hard work, and big blue truck. (Those lucky enough to have experienced it will also remember him for his legendary popcorn.)
Anthony was a quiet genius who invented and experimented endlessly in his garage. He loved tinkering, problem solving, heavy equipment, tending to his endless wood piles, swimming, and riding his motorcycle through the woods of Harriman State Park.
He is survived by family, including his loving wife Karen Prager D’Anna, his daughters Alyssa and Jenna D’Anna, his father Anthony D’Anna, his siblings, Gina D’Anna Goswick, Desiree and James Kelly, Daniel and Irene D’Anna, nieces and nephews Louis and Katilin, Danielle, Joseph, and Julia, and his grandpuppy, Goose.
His spirit traveled with the lunar eclipse and was greeted by his mother Rose Tomasini D’Anna — as well as a cohort of dogs and cats expecting deli meat.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 15, 2020 at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY from the hours of 2–4pm and 5–7pm with a short memorial service at 5:30. (Due to the current health crisis, there will be limits on the number of visitors allowed inside at once.)
