Alice Helena DeFreitas

Alice Helena DeFreitas of Pearl River N.Y. passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, 91 years young. She was a force of love, laughter, and strength. The family anchor that held us all together. Her faith in God filled her life. She passed away peacefully in her warm home, surrounded by family. We find comfort in knowing she was greeted by her husband, Joseph T. DeFreitas, son, Glenn M. DeFreitas, brother, William F. Oelkers, mother, Susan A. Gallagher (Oelkers), and father, William Oelkers. Alice’s number one hobby was to crochet. She loved to make blankets for family members and newborns. Alice loved to sing and draw and create beautiful poems. She leaves behind her legacy of love, to the many children she has cared for throughout her years. Alice’s family loved and cared for her all of her days.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Donna (Robert) Steininger of Ft. Pierce, FL, granddaughter, Alicia (Wil) McKean of SC with great grandchildren, Madox and Jaxon, grandsons, Robert of MD and Thomas (Jessica) Steininger of FL and great grandchild, Amelia. Also survived by daughter, Patricia Ann (Andrew) Regan of Pearl River and granddaughter, Jennifer (Steven) Griffin of Pearl River and great grandchildren, Andrew and Ella Griffin. She is predeceased by son, Glenn (Martina Rodriquez) De Freitas of Pearl River and is survived by granddaughter, Susan (David) Anderson of Ronkokoma, NY, great grandchildren, Darren, Brett and Mackenzie granddaughter, Tracy Ann DeFreitas  of Pearl River and Judith Ferndez, Carolyn Ferndez, and Felix of Long Island; daughter, Laura Ann (Thomas) Kratzok of Pearl River, grandchildren, George Pratt, Joseph Pratt and Kyle Kratzok; daughter, Angela Spellman of Ellenville, NY and grandchildren, Luis, Thomas, and Rosemarie. 

Funeral services will be private.
