Penny (O'Connell) McGarvey

Maureen (Penny) McGarvey of Pearl River, NY died on March 3, 2019. She was 76.

Mrs. McGarvey worked as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Rubinstein in Blauvelt, NY for 30 years, before working for Dr. Joseph Laico in New City, NY for an additional 20. 

Penny was born on May 9, 1942 at Mt. St. Vincent Hospital in the Bronx, NY to John and Mae O'Connell. 

Penny lived in Pearl River for over 50 years. Before that she lived in the Bronx and Blauvelt.

She is survived by her sons, Sean and Brendan of Pearl River, and her daughter, Eileen of Chestnut Ridge, NY as well as her beloved grandson, Liam David; brother, John O'Connoll of Blauvelt, NY; sister, Trisia Reynolds of Blauvelt, and brother, Thomas of Valley Cottage.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, David Demarest McGarvey in 2009. 

Penny enjoyed laughing more than making others laugh. She enjoyed hearing about your day more than telling you about hers, and she always put the happiness of those closest to her ahead of her own. 

Her family and friends are heartbroken over her loss, but her gentle spirit and kind nature will be with them forever.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday March 6,2019 from 7 to 9 PM at Wyman- Fisher Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Friday March 8, 2019 at St. Margaret R.C. Church Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony 's cemetery Nanuet, NY.
