Lewis Blair Brundage

On February 9, 2019, Lewis Blair Brundage of Pearl River died at Hackensack Hospital, New Jersey, at the age of 87.

Mr. Brundage was born September 3, 1931 in Nyack, New York to Lewis and Margaret Blair Brundage. He grew up in Pearl River and graduated from Pearl River High School in 1951. He then joined the US Army in 1952, excelling right from the start, earning Soldier of the Month during training. He joined the 82nd Airborne and served until1954, attaining the rank of Corporal.

On December 19, 1953, he married Carol Swindells at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River. Mr. Brundage built their family home, where they raised a family and still reside after 62 years.

Mr. Brundage worked as a Union Steamfitter-Welder for 32 years for Local 21 in Peekskill. He was active within the community, coaching as a volunteer to the Pearl River Buccaneer Midget Football Program. He belonged to the Free Masons, Eastern Star, American Legion and the Walter E. Hughes Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Association. In addition to his memberships, he was inducted into both the Pearl River and Rockland County Sports Hall of Fames.

He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Diane Hyman, sons Michael and William Brundage, his five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

The funeral is Friday, February 15th at Good shepherd Lutheran Church, 112 N Main Street, Pearl River at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Brick Church Cemetery.

Viewing hours will be Thursday, February 14 from 3-5PM and 7-9PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River.
