George Levasseur Obituary

George Henri Levasseur passed peacefully from this life on October 11th, 2018 at the age of 102 years. 
Born in 1916 in West Hoboken(currently Union City), New Jersey where he lived with parents, George V. and Jeanne Levasseur and sisters, Jeanne and Henriette. In 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served for 3 years until the end of WWII attaining the rank of Master Sargent. He held a manufacturing career for several decades and later in life started his second career becoming a NY State Certified Nurseryman and working in several local retail garden centers where he helped and befriended many customers, coworkers and commercial landscapers. He continued loving what he did until he retired at age 85 due to vision impairment. George remained in his home in Nanuet, NY until he reached 102 years old and in his 103rd year passed away at the New York State Veteran's Home at Montrose.
George is predeceased by his wife Marjorie (Wethly) Levasseur. He is survived by his sons, Lance and Steven(Rev. Giles), his daughter-in-law, Jeanette (Downey) Levasseur; granddaughters, Jennifer Griffith and Yvette Levasseur, his nephews, Phillip, Kevin and Michael Ryan, and his nieces Cathy Ryan-Flavin and Christine (Ryan) Mahr.
Services and inurnment will be private. Because of the wonderful care he received in his final days, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George Levasseur to, New York State Veteran's Home at Montrose, 2090 Albany Post Rd., Montrose, NY 10548.
