Doris Van Melis

Doris Van Melis passed away on September 3 at the age of 91.

Doris grew up in Weehawken, NJ where she met and married her husband of 64 years, Charles VanMelis. The couple moved to Pearl River in 1958 where they raised their 3 children – Linda, Karen, and Steven. Charles passed away in July of 2017. 

 Doris had a knack for maintaining a lovely, bloom-filled garden surrounding the house. She enjoyed the friendships she developed with her neighbors in their small Naurashaun development. She devoted herself to home and family and was in her glory at the holidays. Summer vacations at Long Beach Island were another very special time with family.

Doris is survived by her 3 children, and 2 of their spouses, Allan and Laura, as well as 5 grandchildren:  Hakim, Kaylee, Christopher, Shannon, and Adriana.

Grandma, may you find eternal peace in God’s arms.

Visiting will be held Friday 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. A graveside service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
