Charles Schaudel Obituary

Charles J. Schaudel of Pearl River, NY went to sleep on this earth and woke up in heaven on Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was 77.
Charles was born October 2, 1941 in Flushing, Queens to Charles and Mary Schaudel.
He was a member of the first graduating class of Holy Cross High School in Flushing and went on to St. John’s University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Chemistry.  He was a flavor chemist for 35 years and in retirement he worked as a doorman on East 72nd Street, greeting many faces with his warmth and smile.
Aside from his family and friends, he had two great loves, trains and music.  Throughout his life he played trombone with a variety of bands from his high school group The Starlighters, with his beloved buddy, Rick, to the NY Army National Guard band and finally the Big Band Swing Machine in Rockland County.  He even graced the stage of Rockland Community College playing in the pit band for the production of “Ragtime”.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary; his children, Patrick and future daughter-in-law, Nicole, Daniel, Anne Marie and husband Michael Gerosimo and Christina; his loving grandchildren, Colin, Mara and Liam; his sister, Maureen and countless beloved family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Tuesday at St. Margaret R. C. Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, NY.  Visiting is Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
In lieu of flowers we kindly request donations to be made in his memory to Opengate Inc, a residential day program and community based provider serving adults with developmental disabilities.  www.opengateinc.org.
