Bridget Segatta Obituary

Bridget ‘Bridie’ Segatta, longtime resident of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on March 14th, 2024. Bridie was born in Gowla County, Galway, Ireland on January 27th, 1939 to John and Kathleen ‘Kate’ Keaney. The eldest daughter of 10 siblings, she emigrated to the United States at the young age of 14. While living in New York City, she met the love of her life, Quintino ‘Tino’ Segatta at an Irish dance. Not long after they were married on December 30th, 1967. After starting their family in Jackson Heights, Queens, they moved to Pearl River in 1978. There they raised their 4 daughters: Natalie (Jimmy) Russell, Mary (Paul) Marsico, Nora (Vito) Giachetti and Tina (Sean) Murphy.

Bridie was a phenomenal woman and natural care giver; she personified what it means to be a selfless mother. With the best Irish scones across the Atlantic, she had an affinity for both her and her husband’s culture and often showed her love through cooking; she valued a full house and full table. She had an innate sense of how to make each and every person she touched feel comfort. With the patience of a saint, she had the most genuine eyes that you could trust and also made you feel safe to share your troubles; in those moments of unknowing, she would always have something insightful and wise to share. A consistent word of advice that always came through was ‘bring it to God, He has taken care of me all my life and he’ll do the same for you’. Her greatest joys were walking Rockland lake, family time, listening to WFUV on Sunday mornings and being the best daughter, sister, aunt, wife, Grammy and friend she could be. She loved life, especially children and took genuine care of her own children, grandchildren, as well as many ‘adopted children’ throughout the years. Her unwavering faith and strong trust in God is what she lived by and what gives those still here peace.

Bridie is preceded by her parents, her brothers Joe, Sean, Mickey, Thomas and her sister Kathy. She is survived by her loving husband Tino of 56 unforgettable years, 4 daughters and son-in-laws, her 6 grandchildren Maggie, Julie, Katherine, JT, Patrick and Connor, her 3 sisters Mary, Maisie, Anne and brother Paddy as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.

There’s a hole in our hearts, yet we find comfort in the legacy she has left, the numerous laughs and memories we have and the undeniable richness and love she brought into our lives. We find peace knowing she has returned home to God; Bridie will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
