John F. Carmody of Pearl River, NY, and a former business owner and long time resident of East Durham, NY, died peacefully on 3/9/14. John was born on March 5, 1920, in Rock Chapel, County Cork, Ireland. He was the son of James and Margaret Carmody, (nee Brosnan). John was a 38 year member of TWU Local 100 and served honorably in the U.S. Army during WW II as a military policeman. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Elbe, of Pearl River, NY; and Mary Mulligan of Columbia, Maryland; his son, James Carmody and his wife Maggie, of East Durham, NY and daughter-in-law, Christine Carmody, of Pearl River, NY. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Colleen & Matthew Elbe, Brian, Siobhan, Kiera and Sean Carmody, Caitlin & Claire Mulligan, and John and Eileen Carmody. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren: Sean Wisdom, and John & Grace Elbe. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Anne Carmody, nee Joyce, of Galway, Ireland, and his beloved son, Joseph Patrick, of Pearl River, NY. Funeral arrangements will be on Friday, March 14, 2014, at 3-5; 7-9 at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Pearl River, NY. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at St. Margaret of Antioch, Pearl River, NY
